Hi and welcome to our Rainy Day Homeschooling site. Why don’t you grab a cup of tea or coffee, sit yourself down and take a moment to let me introduce myself?
I’m Cerys, mum of 2 a hybrid home educator from the UK, we homeschool 1 child and the other is in school. Before becoming a mum I was a teacher in secondary schools in England and prior to that a sea turtle biologist in Costa Rica!
Yes, I really was a marine biologist and stopped to come back to the UK and teach. But, now after 3 weeks of remote learning back in 2020 we became a home-educating family and saw things differently.
I’ve been writing kids activities on Rainy Day Mum since 2011, but since we started home-educating there’s so much more I want to share so started Rainy Day Homeschooling to share those ideas, unit studies, and resources in one place that’s easy to find.
Three Facts about Me
So what about me?
I’m a 40+-year-old, mum from the South East of the UK, we live near the coast – it’s just 10 minutes drive to the North Sea with the 2 kids (a nearly 11-year-old and 12-year-old), my husband, tropical fish, 2 terrapins (red-eared slider turtles for those in the US), stick insects aplenty and our dog.
Fact 1 – I’m scared but fascinated by crabs.
Fact 2 – I craft but hardly ever finish projects, you’ll find me with at least 10 different things on the go at once. I knit, crochet, sew, embroider, paint, print, and then discover something new I want to try and the list goes on.
Fact 3 – You’ll find either a book or my Kindle in my bag wherever I go. I’d much rather sit and read (and I will read anything) than watch TV.
